Aberdeen ranked third kindest city in the UK

Party animals by night, good Samaritans by day

Aberdeen is officially the third kindest city in the UK, according to a survey undertaken by the Co-operative Food Group.

The survey which polled an impressive 4,000 people, (you read right, bloody 4,000), said that people, especially those who have long and hectic working hours, like to go out of their way to help others, even if it means doing something little as picking up something that someone has dropped.

This supports a study of more than 400,000 people, undertaken by the University of Cambridge last year, that said people in the North are much kinder than those in the South.

The most impressive fact that the poll found is that the kindest group of them all are 18-24 year olds. So not only do we like to go out to a good Milk at Nox, but we are also the humanitarians of the Deen. This includes shopping for the elderly, volunteering at Community events and even offering our seats to others on the overly packed number 1 and 2 bus.

Those who were polled said, the main reason they help is because its good to make someone smile and it’s all about the good karma.

Unfortunately we didn’t make the top, as the honour was claimed by Bristol. This was followed by Belfast.

Our friends from Edinburgh and Glasgow only made it to 14th and 18th place. Whilst London just barely made the list by coming 19th.

Stay classy Aberdeen and keep the kindness going.
