Parent of Warwick student crashes car into hall of residence while dropping child off at uni

Just a little bit embarrassing

It’s natural for freshers to be nervous about making a good impression when they arrive at uni, but one parent shattered any chance of that happening by crashing their car into a student accommodation in Warwick.

Police officers arrived at the scene after the driver lost control and crashed their black BMW estate into a University of Warwick hall of residence.

The car smashed a large glass window and knocked over some bricks in the process.

After the incident, Warwickshire Police’ Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) wrote on Twitter: “Yesterday we attended a collision at the University of Warwick.

“Probably one of the more embarrassing ways to drop your child off for their first day of university by literally driving in to their halls of residence. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.”

One Twitter use responded: “Can you just imagine. That would be the most embarrassing thing ever, I would not have forgiven my rents if they had done that to me.”

Another said: “That would just be the most mortifying start to student life. That’s one way to announce your arrival at your new home.”
