Top things to do this week

We got your whole week planned

There’s something every day this week, so don’t let the mid-term blues get you down.

Winning Women Conference, Monday

The Lumsden Club is hosting six influential businesswomen for a series of talks concerning careers in advertising, pharmaceuticals, accounting, and finance. The event combines your typical networking event with an open-floor style interactive discussion. More information about the speakers and tickets are available on their Facebook event.

DanceSoc Safari Night, Wednesday

DanceSoc returns to their trademark Lizard for a charity night, with all proceeds to be donated to Families First. In line with the theme, animal prints are highly encouraged. Tickets are available at the door.

GLITTERBALL, Friday

Tickets for Glitterball were in such high demand this year that they sold out in minutes. After only a few years, Glitterball has already established themselves as one of the most anticipated nights of the year. You can still try and snag a ticket second hand- this one’s not to be missed.

Music Freedom Day with MUNGO’S HIFI by Music is Love and St. Andrews African Caribbean Society, Thursday

MUNGO’S HIFI, a raggae/dub group based in Glasgow, is returning to St Andrews to celebrate Music Freedom Day. Music is Love and St Andrews African Caribbean Society come together to host a screening of “The Will Have to Kill Us First” beforehand. “They Will Have to Kill Us First” explores cultural censorship in Mali. Proceeds from both events will sponsor the Music in Exile Fund, an international organisation that supports musicians who face censorship and provides training, development, and support for them. Tickets for both the screening and MUNGO’s HIFI are available outside the library on the 25th Feb or via the Union website.

Scottish A Cappella Championships, Friday

Nine groups from across Scotland will compete for a £1000 prize and the title of Scottish A Cappella Champions. This year, along with six groups from St Andrews, the championships will feature two groups from Aberdeen and another from Edinburgh. Limited tickets still available via the Union website.
