Prince George has St Andrean godparent

BREAKING NEWS: Baby has a godparent.

Prince George’s seven godparents were revealed this morning; lo and behold, a St Andrews alum made the list. Spontaneous celebratory October Dip, anyone?

Oliver Baker, who lived with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the Balgove House on Strathtyrum Estate for two years, has been a long time trusted friend of the couple, according to the Daily Mail.

Baker’s wife Mel, who also attended St Andrews, lived in London with Kate upon their graduation. Mel and ‘Ollie’, as he is known to close friends, were married in St Andrews and will both be at St James’s Palace to celebrate Prince George’s christening and Ollie’s godparent-ship today.

In a break with tradition, only one royal family member will serve as godparent to the prince. Wills himself has six godparents including King Constantine II of Greece, Princess Alexandra and the Honourable Lady Ogilvy. Not too shabby.

The fun doesn’t end there. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will also attend the christening, alongside the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry. The Middleton camp will also be present: Carole, Michael, Pippa and James. Happy christening!
