The lights floating over town last night were not a hallucination, no matter how drunk you may have been.

The Northern Lights appeared over West Sands for a few minutes around 12:30 last night, leaving many students wondering, “is that the aurora borealis or just the pollutants around Dundee?”

Though only visible for a few minutes, a crowd full of students around West Sands witnessed the relatively uncommon event. First year, Becca Shwarz, said: “it was actually a really nice sense of community, being out on West Sands with everyone all night.”

The aurora borealis came, went, and brought St. Andrews students together around something that was not a bottle of Tesco’s finest vodka. The Stand would call that a success.
