Mask made mandatory in all University of Southampton buildings

The change in guidance came into effect on 27th October

With rising COVID cases around the country and an increase locally of respiratory illnesses, University of Southampton has changed their guidance on face coverings in buildings.

In an email sent to all students and staff Vice Chancellor, Wendy Appleby, the guidance was changed from “strongly encouraging and expecting” to “an explicit requirement that face coverings must be worn by all students in all taught and practical sessions, and by all staff and students when moving around inside our campus buildings and halls of residence, unless a medical exemption applies.”

In order to continue the in-person campus experience face masks must be worn during all lectures and seminars, and when moving in and around University buildings.
