Lodge Road car crash leaves man seriously injured
The collision happened across the road from a crowd of students
Students headed to Jesters for an end of exams celebration were left shocked after two cars crashed on Lodge Road at around 11:45pm.
One man was reportedly serious injured in the incident.
The scene, across the road from the Tesco where many students regularly get cash out for a night out, saw two ambulances, two fire engines and three police cars present after a taxi appeared to have collided into the back of a Citroen Saxo, with the latter having careered into the metal shutters of the Maya Supermarket.
Many students looked on in horror as a man was rescued to safety after 25 minutes of by emergency services to remove the roof and doors of the damaged hatchback.
He was carried away away from the scene on a stretcher, and appeared badly hurt and unconscious.
Both drivers involved were taken to Southampton General Hospital.
