Here at The Soton Tab we know that students love gossip, scandal and rumour, and the SUSU election season always has plenty of that. As for this year, who knows? With nominations opening TODAY and closing a week on Monday, we will have to wait and see what candidates our (‘your’) Union can produce, but as in previous years we’ve done some sniffing around and made the most of our journo tekkers to kick start the rumour mill. Union President: The top dog of the Union, Chairman of the board of trustees and ultimate BNOC.

VP Education: The Sabb who sorts out your lecturers if they step out of line.

VP Democracy & Creative Industries: SUSU’s very own Rupert Murdoch, in charge of everything to do with media: from censoring controlling the Wessex Scene and running Union Films, to enforcing democracy.

VP Sports Development: Formerly known as AU President, this Sabb is the one all the AU teams beg for money.

VP Engagement: Head of most SUSU volunteering, RAG, and community action.

  • Jamie Hemingway (Student groups officer, Soton Tab Lifestyle editor)

VP Student Communities: Responsible for different student communities like postgrads and internationals, as well as JCRs and different sites.

VP Welfare: Hands out condoms and housing advice.
