The Complete University guide was published yesterday, with some slight changes in the leagues this year. There was SHOCK as Cambridge, once again, topped the table, with Oxford back to second, LSE third, Imperial fourth and Durham fifth.
Perhaps more disconcerting is that the University of Southampton has dropped from 15th place in last years league table (2013) to 20th, as universities such as King College London and Edinburgh overtake. The table used a variety of measures to class the universities, which include student satisfaction, entry standards, staff-to-student ratio, spending on facilities and graduate prospects.
The University of Southampton scores well on the research assessment, the high percentage of students graduating with a First/Second Class Honours, the Staff-Student ratio, academic services spend and general degree completion. However, facilities spend, graduate prospects and overall student satisfaction still have room for improvement in order to bring Southampton back up.
