This message is regarding the article published recently about Moazzam Begg’s visit to Southampton by Mr. King. The article stated how it was “obvious” that Mr Begg intended to stir up racial tension on his visit to Southampton. This statement couldn’t be further from the truth, as was made evident at Mr Begg’s talk on Thursday.
At the Soton Tab we aim to stimulate debate and discussion with our articles, not deliberately cause offence. While this article was an opinion piece and we have since had an article published in response, the article was an unfair representation of Mr Begg and should not have been published.
We would like to extend our apologies to Mr Begg, Isoc, and any others who have been offended by what was written on our website by the author or the commenters. We will ensure we take greater care in the future over which articles we choose to publish.
