BNOC of the year: Group one

The time has come

| UPDATED

You’ve done your worst and sabotaged your mates with nominations. Now is the moment you’ve all been waiting for: round one of our annual Big Name On Campus competition.

The winner from this round will go forward to the grand finale, joining winners of the rounds to come, where you will vote who truly is Sheffield’s biggest BNOC.

Stay tuned for the next heat. Who’s going to be crowned Sheffield BNOC of the year 2016?

Liz Bailey

First team player and previous social sec for the netball team, Liz has fingers in lots of social pies and is well loved within the sporting community. This BNOC is known for being a ‘top girl with a sick lean and even sicker rebound’. She may be ex-social sec, but Liz still knows how to party – a true BNOC trait.

Renowned for her witty banter and looks that can kill, people are left wondering if they want to be Liz, or be on her.

Robert Edwards

Robert “Bosh / Dorian Yates / The Unit / Kronk” Edwards is the president of Engineers Rugby and is a hard hitting, big lifting politics student. Known among many circles, Rob is usually seen in either the S10 gym or curling huge politics books in the IC, in preparation for his weekly ventures to Pop Tarts. When not improving his mental or physical gains he will be on the lash, never missing a night to get absolutely obliterated. A true drinking legend.

Rob is constantly recognised around campus, and cannot go 20 meters without bumping into someone who knows him.

A man with so much bulk he adds another element to the term big name on campus.

Dave Hinton

You may recognise “Big Gay Dave” from last year’s nominations, renowned for throwing some of the biggest parties in Endcliffe, including “Big Gay Dave’s Birthday Bash” and “Big Gay Dave’s Big Gay Rave”, but this boy’s flame has not gone out in his second year. His mad house parties have upped the anti this year, with guests flocking from miles around.

But this year’s crowning glory, securing him the title of BNOC, was his infamous swim around the lake in Crookes Valley Park. He was drunk and lost the use of his legs half way around, so many feared he wouldn’t make it. But man, the myth, the legend completed the circuit.

The nickname stems from the fact that he is “neither big nor gay”, but we know he is most definitely a big name on campus

Alex Richardson

You can keep your Duke of Edinburgh bronze award, this economics third year’s CV is bursting at the seams.  He is collections officer for RAG, treasurer of the labour society, Chair of the SU council, economics councillor, has his own radio show and came a close second for education officer in the union elections. So it is no surprise that he is known by all around campus.

His party trick is getting out his awful stag tattoo (pictured) which he got to celebrate the momentous occasion that is finishing first year January exams and falling asleep standing up in clubs every time he has a drink. Rumour has it an even more dreadful tattoo may follow if he were to be named BNOC of the year.
