The ultimate guide to festive dating in Newcastle

We’ve recommended six of the best seasonal date settings for all you December daters

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Cuffing season is officially underway, and with the time ticking to secure a boo for the festive period, all those dates can end up pulling on the purse strings more than the intended heart-strings.

Below are the Toon’s best offerings that are guaranteed to win over your yuletide beau.

Leila Lily’s Dining Igloo

If you’re one for having the entire population of the city judging your date game, the new igloo on Grey’s street is for you. Decorated in festive garlands and lit by candle light, the igloo is a beautiful romantic spot.

Bookings are £35-a-head for a three course meal and the igloo is open seven days-a-week.

Skating at the Centre for Life

Back by popular demand, the rink in Times Square is an ideal ice breaker without breaking the bank for the more frugal daters out there.

We personally can’t think of a more attractive sight than a re-enactment of Bambi on Ice. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, though, to avoid disappointment.

Gino’s Quayside Winter Chalet

A new entry on the Newcastle Christmas scene, Gino’s cosy chalet is serving up scran in its tipi fit with fires and fur carpets.

The cosy cabin is open everyday of the week and a three course lunch starts from £27, but you can book for just drinks too on the Gino website.

Christmas Films at Everyman Cinema

Everyman are showing a range of seasonal specials, ranging from the old classic It’s a Wonderful Life to the phenomenon that is Elf.

They’re also showing The Nutcracker Ballet and a range of 35mm films for the more cultured couples out there.

Newcastle Christmas Market

The Newcastle markets are back around the Monument and are more spectacular than ever. You can browse the huge range of local businesses and independent traders selling all things Christmas with a festive tipple.

If you rate your date you could even treat them to a delightful handmade cheese board or a jar of chutney as a token of your everlasting love.

Hadrian’s Tipi

An ultimate Newcastle Christmas staple, Hadrian’s Tipi is back again this year. With its two cosy fire pits fit to warm the cold heart of every ice queen and an extensive line up of food stalls, the Tipi has everything you could possibly desire on a date.

Happy holiday hun hunting!
