We’re ten places in front of LSE

In The Times Higher Education World Rankings released today, UCL has been ranked the fifteenth best university globally.

However in the last academic year, UCL came 14th meaning we’ve gone down one place.

UCL was the second best London university according to the rankings. Age-old rivals King’s came in joint 36th with the University of British Columbia and Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Surprisingly, LSE came in joint 25th with the University of Washington.

Three British universities came in the top ten in this years ranking, Oxford University came top of the table Cambridge was in fourth, with Imperial coming in at eighth.

The rankings rate universities on five key indicators: the learning environment, the volume, income and reputation of the institution’s research as well as the how influential its research is through the number of citations.

It also looks at how well knowledge is transferred into industry and evaluates its ‘international outlook’ through staff, students and research.
