The Sandwich Bar is about to become your go-to meal deal in Cardiff

We recommend giving the Sandwich King free reign when it comes to your sandwich

The Sandwich Bar has opened its doors in Cardiff. Located next to Pulse on Churchill Way, the new food venture owned by the same company, has an extensive menu with something for everyone.

Immediately greeted by friendly staff as you walk in, the smooth jazz playing gives a chilled vibe, making it the perfect stop in the centre of town.

Custom sandwiches, on a choice of bread, baguettes and bagels, can be built from a range of locally sourced meats, fresh salad, cheeses, veggie and vegan alternatives with dressings galore to flavour your subs.

Meat and vegan versions of their “sandwich of the day” are also available alongside jacket potatoes, and salad boxes. While Sidoli’s ice-cream and ice-cream milkshakes serve up a great sweet treat.

Describing their best seller, the chicken mayo as “boring”, I gave the manager and self-proclaimed “Sandwich King” free rein to choose my sandwich. After seven years in the industry and as the mastermind behind the operation, he knows a thing or two about how to balance flavours and pick the best ingredients for the ultimate sarnie.

Talking me through the filling choices, he layered protein with a touch of spice, sweetness and crunch – chorizo, lettuce, tomato, salsa, pepper, red onion and crispy onion sandwiched between two whopping slices of fluffy white bread. A definite winner and worthy of that sandwich crown.

The store now offers student discount of 10 per cent. Making their meal deals, which includes a sandwich, snack (such as the UK’s first biodegradable ‘plastic free’ crisps from Two Farmers) and a drink down to just £4.95.

Currently undergoing works, Churchill Way is set to become a new green open public space as the canal underneath the city centre street is unearthed and the surrounding area revamped. So get yourselves down to the Sandwich bar, and let the Sandwich King make your lunchtime royally tasty.
