The body of a missing 21-year-old Cardiff grad has been found

His body was found near Eastbourne, East Sussex.


Police have confirmed that a body found in East Sussex is that of missing Aled Smith’s.

The 21-year-old Cardiff University graduate from Roath was last seen in Cardiff last Thursday at 3pm. His family and friends reported Aled as missing after he failed to return home. After approaching the South Wales police voicing their concerns, an appeal was made for him to get in contact with the police.

Police began a major investigation after a body was discovered on Monday at Beachy Head near East Sussex. The emergency services and local coastguards were called to the ‘notorious beauty spot’ after a body was discovered on the beach near the Beachy Head lighthouse at 8am.

The police have released a statement saying: “Mr Smith’s family has been updated. There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been informed.”
