Oxford Brookes sees a steep decline in positive Covid cases

Last week saw 20 cases amongst staff and students

In the email they confirmed: “In the seven days up to 20 November, we have been notified of 20 confirmed cases at Oxford Brookes. 18 of these cases were students, two were members of staff.”

The university went on to say: “Of the 20 cases, 14 are attributed to Oxford City, two to Oxfordshire and four to outside of Oxfordshire.”

This is a decline of 35 positive cases since the 55 positive cases reported last week. 59 positive cases reported two weeks ago.

The email further said: “Our data shows that transmission continues to be connected to social settings, so it remains vital that we maintain hygiene and social distancing measures and that you continue to follow the new national restrictions that came into force on Thursday 5 November.”

The email further detailed plans for asymptomatic testing, where students can get free asymptomatic testing before they go home for Christmas.

The email also reminded students: “Tests are only available to students who do not have Covid-19 symptoms (‘Asymptomatic Testing’). They are also available to students who have previously had Covid-19.”
