After the UWE Bullets’ comfortable 26-6 victory over the Bristol Barracuda in the American Football, Bristol will be keen to get back to winning ways – and they’ve got every reason to be confident after last year’s result.

Bristol won all four of their Varsity 2012 matches against UWE, the highlight of the night being Josh Simmonds’ victory over Khaled Sakshuki, winning through a first round stoppage after the opposing coach threw in the towel.

Rory Bradshaw, Bristol’s captain, will be hoping to repeat that success on Friday night. Key to Bristol’s hopes will be Ed Hussey, who enjoyed success at the University championships.

Strong performances will also be expected from Patrick Heaton-Armstrong (2 fights, 2 wins), Liam O’Shea (2 fights, 2 wins), Ciaran Thaper (1 fight, 1 win) and the team’s only female boxer, Hari May-Phippen (1 fight, 1 win).

However, UWE’s team captain, Sean Heveran, will also fancy his chances. Several of his fighters have had ten or more bouts and so will be confident their experience will pull them through.

This promises to be an entertaining event and, with an after-party at Syndicate planned with discount entry for Fight Night ticket holders, make sure you don’t miss out!
