Say It With A Kiss

LGBT+ Soc stage Valentine’s kiss-in protest for marriage equality

Valentine’s is known for its stifling cliches and romantic conventions, so what Bristol’s LGBT+ society had planned for the day made for a refreshing change.

Unbeknownst to many students working in the ASS, a host of couples were preparing to participate in a romantic stunt that aimed to promote the values of equal marriage.

Proposing publically to one another, same-sex partners kissed in the ASS library to warm applause from those surrounding them. Further proposals took place in the cafe, outside and on Woodland Road.

Kelvin Chen, President of the LGBT+ Society, commented, “I’m really proud of our Kiss-In. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it was empowering for LGBT+ students and their friends to come together and show their support for the cause.”

“Events such as these bring life to the precinct and help foster a stronger sense of community at Bristol University. Hopefully we’ll see more of these publicity stunts in future.”
