Lectures cancelled for the rest of today as Storm Imogen batters Aber

The uni has advised students to ‘keep curtains closed’

The university has cancelled all lectures for the remainder of today due to safety fears over the storm.

Teaching activities will resume, as normal, at 9.10am Tuesday, weather depending.

With a couple of high tides before then, it is likely that the sea-front is going to take more of a battering.

Even Llanbadarn has fallen

If you’re living in seafront halls, the university advises you to “keep curtains closed”.

Third years will remembers the storms of 2014 that led to mass evacuations from the seafront, who might find this advice somewhat underwhelming

Trains are still not running between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, so if you desperately need to get out of Aberystwyth, or have some friends/relatives visiting you might have to reschedule.

Nobody coming to visit this

The university warned: “Take care, and stay away from the seafront.

“The waves can carry large stones, which can be carried up and cause serious injury.

“Please be assured that we continuously monitor the situation.

“Please check your emails regularly as we will be in touch to update you should things change.”
