Rhi has *finally* spoken about why she and Jeff split up after MAFS, and I feel so sad for her

The sad news that MAFS Australia couple Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels have split up was first reported on three months ago, but only now has Rhi spoken out about what happened. 

Rhi and Jeff met during the 2025 season of MAFS Australia, but in June this year it was said they had been “living apart for weeks” and their relationship had fizzled out due to a lack of effort. “Jeff was not putting in any effort with Rhi. They stopped going out on dates,” a friend told MailOnline. 

Then, it was reported that police had responded to an alleged assault at their home, the day before they broke up. The alleged assault incident left Rhi with “minor injuries”. However, Jeff was never arrested or charged, and has denied any wrongdoing. Police confirmed Jeff was “interviewed by police but released without charge pending summons.”

For the first time since the breakup was announced, Rhi has now spoken about what happened. “I was really unhappy,” she told Life Uncut podcast hosts Britt Hockley and Laura Byrne.

“I wanted to be a mum, I wanted my life to progress. And I found myself having the same conversations on repeat about the future,” she said. She explained she felt as though Jeff no longer wanted to have conversations about their future, and she “didn’t recognise” either him or herself anymore.

Rhi added: “I was getting told the things that I wanted to hear, of course. But nothing was actually happening to move forward in our relationship and make me feel like he wanted to be there. Sometimes loving someone is just not enough to stay.”

She also hinted there may have been cheating involved, but also said this could be nothing more than rumour, she’s not sure. “I guess I’m probably not ready to talk about them, if I ever will talk about it online. But there were rumours,” Rhi said.

“Not that I ever found out concrete that they were true. But I was always faithful in our relationship and it was really hard to get past those rumours. There are current rumours about me being the one that cheated on him, and that is just the biggest lie.” 

Unfortunately, Rhi said she is “disappointed” by how things ended, because she “would have loved an amicable breakup” but that didn’t happen. However, she said there were plenty of “happy” times in their relationship.
