Ranked: The Squid Game 2 characters who are undeniably the most jarring
I have nightmares about the lady who spoke about fortunes
You’d think the most unsettling part of Squid Game would be the games. I mean, people literally die all over the place. It’s not normal for a show to make you that desensitised to the sound of a machine gun going off. But it turns out, the most jarring part of Squid Game 2 was the characters. Boy did they stress me out.
There were players who were straight up annoying, and others who made me feel uncomfortable from start to finish. Others simply stressed me out because I couldn’t work out their vibe.
Here are the Squid Game 2 characters who were the most jarring and unhinged in the new episodes, ranked.
10. Shooter 011
Season two was the first time we’ve followed the show from the prospective of one of the workers. We met Shooter 011 as an innocent bunny at a carnival, then next thing she was shooting players dead. The main reason she has to be on the list of the most jarring characters is purely because I just can’t work her out.
Is she nice? Is she evil? If I’m starting to like someone because they’re shooting people but not straight through the heart, I fear the bar is in hell.
9. Min-su
Min-su ultimately just made me really angry. Why was he even there? I wanted to feel sorry for him, as he was clearly petrified by everything, but by the end I was just annoyed with him.
Most Read
I was screaming at my TV for him to just try and be a little courageous, knowing full well I was sat at home in my PJs and if I were in Squid Game, I’d cry every second. But, my hatred is valid. Alright?
8. The boat captain
I think by now we’ve all realised the boat captain is a very shady man. There are full theories about him being evil, and actually the person behind the strange organ harvesting side hustle Squid Game has. Whilst that was becoming clear, every part of his storyline had dark and mysterious undertones. Just his face screams shady to me now.
7. The police officer
From the very moment the police officer didn’t just show Gi-hun a picture of his brother, aka The Front Man, which could have solved the whole show, I knew this man was off. He’s keeping secrets. I fear he can’t be trusted.
6. That angry old man player who kept voting to keep going
Ok so there’s a theory Im Jeong-dae, aka Player 100, is actually a VIP, which is why he kept voting for games to carry on. That aside, I really needed him to stop. He was so argumentative! And for what? Give it a rest! People are dying!
5. The random influencer girlie?
I have no idea why she was even there. This whole scene was straight-up strange.
4. The Recruiter
the recruiter on squid game is actually insanely fucked up but he’s also a man of his word and I kinda respect it

The Recruiter has always been scary. We swoon over how fit he is, but this season he was more psychopathic than ever. The Russian Roulette game actually made me feel a bit unwell. Him being sat there with blood splatter across his face? Yeah. Unsettling.
3. Thanos
Thanos is the Squid Game 2 character who has divided us all. Some think he’s insufferable and deserved his untimely and brutal *spoiler* death. Whereas others think he was hilarious, and as he would say: “A legend, Thanos.” Sorry to say, but I fall into the latter. Loved him wholeheartedly.
That being said, his vibe was deeply uncomfortable. He had so much energy (probably the drugs), and was all over the place with his emotions (definitely the drugs). Jarring is the only word that can be used to describe him.
2. Thanos’ mate who had no other relevance other than Thanos
Arguably, the guy that followed Thanos around like a lost puppy was even more jarring than Thanos himself. Can you remember anything about him other than that he seemed prepared to risk it all for a rapper he’d just met? No? Didn’t think so.
1. Creepy fortune telling lady
I haven’t been able to sleep at night since Squid Game 2 introduced us to Player 044. She was a wild ride. Every scene with her I was behind a pillow, trying not to look. Her creepy predictions into the future, with her death stare into other players’ eyes went straight through me. When she told Gi-hun there were “souls resting” above him? Nope. I’m out.
Nobody has ever creeped me out more. Every time she spoke I felt like a small part of my soul left my body. Out of all the Squid Game 2 characters ranked by who made me feel the worst, she simply had to take top spot.
