Theory finally cracks how people get chosen to be either a player or a worker in Squid Game
The show has proven it true!
A theory has finally cracked how people get selected to either be a player or a worker in Squid Game. Honestly, I’ve been wondering this for so long and now this finally makes sense.
In Squid Game, we see 456 players sign up for the deadly games, which are watched over by what seems like hundreds of guards. In season two we found out that the guards are just members of the public too, like Shooter 011 who was non-fatally shooting eliminated players.
So, that raises one huge question. How does it get decided who becomes a player and who is a worker? This theory has cracked it. There are loads of Squid Game theories floating around right now, but the show appears to have proven this one as actually being true.
What is the reason some people become players in Squid Game whilst others become the guards or workers?
The theory goes all the way back to the recruitment stage of Squid Game. At the start of the very first season we were first introduced to The Recruiter, who plays a brutal game of Ddakji with potential sign ups. Have you ever noticed that one of the cards is red and the other is blue?
The theory claims if you chose the red square in the game of Ddakji with him you are a worker. Then, if you chose blue you are a player. The red symbolises the red worker suits, and the blue symbolises the two-pieces worn by players.

This was pretty much confirmed in season one of the show. In the first episode everyone we saw play, who then went into the games, selected blue. We didn’t see anyone who selected red.
It all makes so much sense now!
