Ranked: Every Russell Group university in the Daily Mail 2027 guide – Cardiff fell six places
Birmingham was named university of the year after rising seven places to 13th, while Cardiff fell six places to 36th, the lowest of any Russell Group university
Imperial College London has topped the Daily Mail University Guide rankings for the fourth successive year, keeping Oxford and Cambridge off the top spot.
Cardiff University fell six places to 36th, the lowest position of any Russell Group university.
In the ranking, Russell Group universities dominate the top 10, including the University of Cambridge in second and the University of Oxford in third.
The University of Birmingham has been classed the Daily Mail’s University of the Year. The university’s all-round strength has lifted it seven places up the rankings to sit in 13th, which is the biggest upward move of any university in the top 20.
The Daily Mail University Guide rankings are based on performance in 12 areas. The numbers include the views of 360,000 final-year students on the quality of their teaching, the support they receive and their wider university experience.
They also identify the universities with the best graduate jobs records and where the starting salaries are highest. And, they account for the quality of research, degree outcomes, entry qualifications, dropout rates and universities’ records for fair admissions.
Ranked from highest to lowest, here is where every Russell Group university placed in the Daily Mail University Guide rankings 2027, and how their position changed from last year.
Non-Russell Group universities occupy several positions within the top 40, which is why some ranks are absent from this list.
