Where is YouTuber Marina Joyce now, 10 years after fake ‘psychosis’ and ‘kidnapping’ claims?
I did not expect her to follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Blue
2016 was a wild year, but between “Damn Daniel” and Donald Trump’s first Presidency, the viral story of Marina Joyce was definitely up there in terms of craziness.
At the time, Marina was a well-known YouTuber who largely produced vlog videos, makeup and fashion content, and more general lifestyle bits. She had an impressive following of 600k, but that shot up to over two million in just a few weeks. That massive fanbase ultimately contributed to one of the biggest stories of the year.
Let’s recall that particularly wild time, and where Marina is at now.
What happened to Marina Joyce in 2016?
It all started in early July 2016, when people claimed to have spotted a gun in the background of one of Marina Joyce’s videos. That, paired with what people described as odd behaviour, raised a lot of concern.
Things took a much darker turn a few weeks later when Marina published a sponsored video entitled Date Outfit Ideas. In it, people claimed she seemed frightened and disoriented, with bruises on her arms as she looked constantly off to the side of the camera. Some swore they heard her beg “help me” during the clip.
It marked the start of one very slippery slope, and by the end of July, conspiracy theories were rampant as people combed through each frame of her videos for “evidence.”
Please please do not attend @MarinaJoyce7's meet up tomorrow morning. I'd hate for anyone to be in danger #savemarinajoyce x

#SaveMarinaJoyce quickly became trending on quite literally every social media platform, and it birthed a whole host of insane conspiracy theories like:
- She had been kidnapped
- She was experiencing psychosis
- She was being controlled by an abusive boyfriend
- She was being held hostage in her own home
- She was involved with ISIS, and possibly a recruiter
- She was luring fans into human trafficking

Those were some of the more tame conspiracy theories, with others suggesting she’d been replaced by a clone or been possessed by a demon.
I told you, it was a crazy time. In fact, it got so crazy that the police were forced to do a welfare check on her. She was fine.
The explanations were odd; then came the missing persons report
Over the subsequent weeks, Marina Joyce attempted to explain away some of the so-called “evidence” that people had picked up. For instance, she said that the “help me” was actually her saying “like me”, and that the bruises came from minor accidents. Soon after, her fanbase turned on her and #BoycottMarinaJoyce was trending as some accused her of faking the story for clout.

In 2017, Marina posted a video that detailed why people might have noticed a change in her. She admitted to battling depression, and it affected everything from the way she talked to how she acted online.
But there’s one final stop on this crazy, crazy story: The time she actually went missing.
It came in 2019, three years after the viral story, and she was missing for a total of 10 days. Official missing persons reports were filed, but we never found out what actually happened. It remains a mystery to this day.
Where is Marina Joyce now?
In 2026, a decade after what could be only described as online mass hysteria, Marina Joyce is still a content creator on YouTube. She’s got 200k followers on Instagram, two million on YouTube, and just under 10k on TikTok.

Marina also has a Patreon, where she’s making just under £100 a month, and the bio reads: “Heya! My name is Marina, and I am a YouTuber, Instagrammer and TikToker, and I’m here on Patreon to post exclusive photos, videos, lives and content so you can see more of a personal side of me on here! I love you all.”
Unlike other Patreons from influencers, Marina’s posts might as well be OnlyFans content with lingerie shoots, “ass content”, and nudes.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this jarring walk down memory lane.
