Where’s infamous gay influencer Davey Wavey now, 15 years after ‘real d*ck’ challenge on YouTube?

Queer people share a lot of similar experiences from their youth, and for some reason, infamous YouTuber Davey Wavey seems to be one of them.

For many gay people, venturing to YouTube to search “how to come out” and “how to kiss a boy” is a mandatory character development moment. It’s why nostalgic YouTubers like Troye Sivan, Tyler Oakley, and Connor Franta got so popular.

While the Troye Sivans of YouTube were fairly wholesome, the same could not be said for Davey Wavey.

Davey Wavey was MASSIVE over a decade ago

Davey Wavey, real name David Perry Jacques, posted his first YouTube video in June 2007. By July, he’d found his niche after “I Caught My Hot Neighbour M*sturbating! (with sound)” went super viral. Over the subsequent years, he generated a following of 1.73 million on one account, and just under 400k on the considerably more explicit Davey Wavey RAW.

For the most part, Davey did gay-geared content, but with an x-rated twist. He interviewed gay p*rnstars in bed, did s*x vlogs, gave s*x advice, and opened up about his own experiences. Over the course of his career, he collabed with massive names like Lilly Singh, Miranda Sings, Troye Sivan, Joey Graceffa, and Shane Dawson.

Perhaps his most famous video, or should I say infamous, was entitled “Real D*ck Vs Dildo Challenge.” In it, Davey was lying on his stomach as male model Igor Kolomiyets tested various s*x toys on him. The aim of the game was to tell which item was Igor’s real manhood, and this was on YouTube, I’ll remind you. Though it’s since been removed for breaking nudity policies, it generated tens of millions of views.

In 2023, he did another version with p*rnstar Thyle Knoxx, which has 2.3 million views and is still up.

Like many people, I too watched Davey Wavey’s content when I was perhaps 14. I was not the intended audience, but like many gay youths, it was essentially served on a silver platter on YouTube.

At the time, many other people and I thought it was kinda cool to see a gay person unapologetically themselves. But, looking back with an adult brain, it was just straight up weird. Many people shared similar realisations.

“Davey wavey was a menace,” one person said as another wrote, “Omg I remember watching this when i was like 11.”

In 2017, in a move that would take Davey Wavey to new heights, he launched Himeros.tv, an adults-only platform for gay and bisexual men. Yes, that’s a polite way of saying p*rn.

Fast forward to 2026, and Davey is still making videos between his slightly filthier exploits. But Himeros.tv is not *just* a p*rn site, because Davey also employs s*x educators and experts to blend educational material with the fun stuff.

He’s working with some of the biggest names in the queer s*x worker space, so I think it’s fair to say he’s doing pretty damn well.
