The Sussex Tab is looking for motivated and enthusiastic students to join the 2021/22 editorial team. Could you be part of one of the fastest-growing Tab teams in the country?

Being part of the editorial team at The Sussex Tab means you will gain valuable experience working for a news publication, as well as working with a fantastic group of writers, and learning plenty of skills along the way.

Available positions are Editor-in-Chief, News Editor, Features Editor and Social Media Editor. Applications are welcome from any Sussex student, regardless of background or year of study – no previous journalistic experience required.

Editor-in-Chief

As Editor-in-Chief, you will coordinate the Tab team and keep things running smoothly by overseeing all articles that The Sussex Tab publishes.

You will write a range of news and features articles each week, and be responsible for editing and publishing work by our fantastic team of writers.

This role is brilliant for gaining leadership experience and learning the skills that come with running an online publication.

News Editor

The Sussex Tab loves to break news stories – big or small. Whether it be on-campus antics or big events in Brighton, as News Editor you’ll always have your ears open for the next scoop.

As well as supporting the Editor-in-Chief with editing and publishing articles, you will also be responsible for keeping up-to-date with all the latest news on campus and in Brighton and Hove. If you have a passion for reporting news before anyone else, this role is for you.

Features Editor

As Features Editor, you will be taking charge of The Sussex Tab’s great feature pieces! You’ll be writing your own features content, as well as editing iconic pieces for the team.

Working on articles such as quizzes, opinion pieces, guides and loads more, you will be responsible for overseeing all of the fun and witty features content that we publish.

From telling wild student stories to asking ‘which Sussex accommodation are you?’, as Features Editor you’ll have a keen interest in everything relevant and relatable to Sussex students.

You will also support the Editor-in-Chief in editing articles and writing on a weekly basis.

Social Media Editor

Your position as Social Media Editor will involve managing The Sussex Tab’s social media channels across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

If you enjoy making hilarious memes, want experience in social media management, or simply love scrolling all day, this one’s for you. You will be responsible for advertising the articles we publish, growing our audience, maintaining follower engagement and of course, sharing all of the best Sussex-related memes and pics!

You’ll also support the editorial team by keeping tuned-in to university life and looking out for the best Sussex Tab content.
