Nine of Brighton’s quirkiest bars and pubs to try this weekend

An IPA with a side of unusual please

Everyone knows Brighton is renowned for its wacky pubs and indie bars, but have you really seen them all?

Every week you promise yourself to divulge in all the crazy bars Brighton has to offer. Yet, when Friday night comes around, you wind up in your student local, classic.

Instead, we've made a list to help you take advantage of our quirky, hipster city. Start enjoying evenings spent drinking cocktails in a cave, travelling back to the 19th century or taking a trip to Paris, all on your door step. You're welcome.

The Hope & Ruin

The Hope & Ruin is both retro and antique, with quirky trinkets hanging from the ceiling, live indie music, and of course, pub food.

The Revelator

If you're into bluesy American vibes, craft beer and love a lumber Jack, then give this little joint a try. It's laid back, makes plenty of Southern American food and is filled with reclaimed neon petrol pumps. Pretty cool.

The Tempest

Have you ever had a few drinks and thought – the only thing that would make this better is if we were drinking in a cave? If that's you, then it's safe to say you'll like The Tempest.

If you get tired of cave boozing, The Tempest looks right on to the sea. Craving an Espresso Martini or a Seagrog? This is the place to be.

The Paris House

Feel classy? Head on over to this quaint brasserie for a little Saturday afternoon jazz and order yourself a cheese platter. Cos why not, that's what our student loan is for right?

The Bee's Mouth

At The Bees Mouth, a vintage junkyard, a mirrored basement den and a rotating mannequin's head, is just the norm. There's no telling just what you might get up to in this wacky bar.

The Pull and Pump

If your choice of poison is tequila, give this little watering hole a try. With 64 different types of tequila on offer and a magical forest themed bar, you can't go wrong.

The Yellow Book

Inspired by all things Steampunk, the staff included. Decked out entirely in 19th century vintage, this place is perfect for Brighton's love of all things old school.

The Black Dove

Mahogany furniture, beautiful tapestries, chandeliers and books. The Black Dove literally screams wacky. If you're a Victorian hipster you'll fit right in.

The Mesmerist

Inspired by all things unconventional, The Mesmerist has a Berlin Bordello space, an Alchemist room and a Hendricks bar. Weird and wonderful The Mesmerist is very dapper, definitely somewhere to expected the unexpected!
