Why do you feel that Association President is important to St Andrews?

Leadership. We need confident and respected leaders to understand our problems and unite our interests. I want to be a President who will stand tall as a symbol for the student body, clear, accessible and determined.

What do you believe makes you especially qualified for the job?

Passion backed by proven results. I invite voters to have a look at my Facebook page timeline (ffollow fforde) that demonstrates this. I’ve learned through my own experiences and opportunities. I created my own theatre company, aCertainCrowd, I’ve explored new cultures, such as working on the Asian Society fashion show, and I have delivered results, such as organising the Bongo Ball for 3 years. I’ve also been elected to the SRC and been heavily involved in fundraising.

What are the three main principles that you plan to follow during your year as a Sabb?

Building constructive relationships with other decision makers in this town.

Demanding greater transparency from the University executive and developing it for the Association

Being collective in my leadership, sitting down and hearing out the concerns and suggestions of all those who face them.

If you could make a major change in St Andrews today what would it be?

Win private investment to build new student accommodation. There’s a lot of land owned by the university you know – plenty of incentive there. If we can build the transparency we need from the executive University Court, perhaps we might all be able to make informed suggestions on ideas such as this!

Any additional comment or message you’d like us to pass on?

I’d like everyone to check out my website. I’m keeping a blog of everything we’re doing in the campaign, including a link to a much more detailed breakdown of my experience.

Also, I’d like to see if anyone could guess why my surname is spelt with a double-f and no capitalisation… Answers can be sent to FF55@ and will be used on the blog (anonymous if you wish)

(I’d also like to bet I could beat Dave Gossage at Fifa.)
