Guardbridge Road will be closed for eight weeks

Bursting out of The Bubble just got even tougher

From today, the main road through Guardbridge will be closed for eight weeks (until Friday 8th April) while pipes are laid for the £25 million sustainable energy centre that the university is building in the village.

This means that all traffic heading to St Andrews from Dundee and Leuchars rail station will face a 7.5-mile diversion.

Stagecoach have made temporary timetables for bus services running between St Andrews and Leuchars/Dundee, and say that delays are highly likely, particularly during the early stages of the closure. Buses between St Andrews and Edinburgh/Glasgow will not be affected by the diversion as they don’t pass through Guardbridge village. They may however still face delays.

Popular local taxi company Univercity Taxis says:

The University is also offering a Park and Pedal Scheme, open to staff, students and the public, allowing people to rent a bicycle and cycle between Guardbridge and St Andrews to avoid heavy traffic.
