Katie O'DonnellFrom today, the main road through Guardbridge will be closed for eight weeks (until Friday 8th April) while pipes are laid for the £25 million sustainable energy centre that the university is building in the village.
This means that all traffic heading to St Andrews from Dundee and Leuchars rail station will face a 7.5-mile diversion.
Stagecoach have made temporary timetables for bus services running between St Andrews and Leuchars/Dundee, and say that delays are highly likely, particularly during the early stages of the closure. Buses between St Andrews and Edinburgh/Glasgow will not be affected by the diversion as they don’t pass through Guardbridge village. They may however still face delays.

The University is also offering a Park and Pedal Scheme, open to staff, students and the public, allowing people to rent a bicycle and cycle between Guardbridge and St Andrews to avoid heavy traffic.
