Business is booming for this new student venture, but who are the mysterious team behind it? I met entrepreneurs Hanna and Alex in the library café…(welcome to 4th year life.)

Hey guys, where are you both from?

H: San Francisco

A: Nottinghamshire

Cool. What do you study?

H: Management, I’m a JSA.

A: I’m a second year studying Economics.

So what is The Cupcakery?

H & A: It is a student-run business, actually part of our Enterprise and Creativity module. The aim wasn’t to make money but we have made profits. We realised there was niche in the delivery market as Bibi’s don’t deliver. We deliver our freshly made cupcakes to anywhere that people want them, be that the library or their flat. We operate only at weekends so we can make sure that all our produce is fresh and homemade. We have had lots of positive feedback!

I’ve tried some of the cakes myself and they are delicious. How do we order?

A: You can like our Facebook page, and send us a message. This weekend is our last one so order now to avoid disappointment!

What flavours do you offer?

H: We have five different regular flavours: chocolate, vanilla, carrot, red velvet. Then we also do a weekly special – this week is gingerbread with cinnamon cream cheese frosting!

Hanna, as the baker in this enterprise, where do your culinary inspirations come from?

H: I worked as a baker two and a half years ago, where I was taught all the basics. I decided that I wanted to open a bakery and that’s why I study Management now. All of our cakes are baked in my kitchen in DRA, which is health and safety certified.

What’s your favourite cupcake flavour?

H: The ‘Neapolitan’, chocolate and vanilla with strawberry frosting. So good.

A: Double chocolate, definitely.

How much do they cost?

A: A four pack of cakes is £4, six is £5 and twelve is £10. You can mix and match flavours as much as you like.

Well, The Stand is totally sold. Any final words?

Hopefully it will be a nice, successful business – remember to get your orders in for this weekend!
