The day of days, the coming of Raisin Weekend,

A great tradition to form many a friend.

Drinks, costumes and creative games,

A communal event which puts the weak to shame.

Separation of the wheat from the chaff,

Forced to drink vino straight from the carafe.

Absynth, vodka, gin and rum,

Drunk at once with the occasional Morrison’s bread bun.

“Drink up, Fresher!” – Frightful words,

Heard all too often until vision is blurred.

Flamboyant outfits and obscure raisin receipts,

A shot on the table awaits then greets.

Shaving foam, goggles and Sallies Quad,

A fine occasion, if not slightly odd.

A time for siblings, cousins and parents to gather,

Enjoyment is key, nothing else does matter.

This event is central to any fresher’s calendar,

Recovery needed to heal many a Raisin scar.

Farewell after the event of Raisin,

A remarkable weekend, a formidable occasion!
