Union President Candidate Interview: Lii Mohamed

What made you want to run for a Saab position?

I’ve been involved with the union for some time now. I’ve been Glen Eyre president, Llawsoc pres twice, trustee twice, equality and diversity officer and campaigns officer for RAG. Whilst there’s loads of awesome things the union does, there appears to be loads of problems. Students are always complaining and nothing is being done about it. I feel like I know what they are talking about and feel like I can attend to their needs. This union should be one of the best in the country and it has the capability to be so, so why aren’t we? Time for change I think.

What’s your favourite point in your manifesto?

I like it all tbf LOL. But my favorite is to celebrate the achievement of our students and shout about our success. I want it to be a wellknown thing, and for us to be proud as a union when one of our societies or groups achieves something.

Why are you the best person for this role?

I've got the experience and passion to really want to make a change. Seen it for years and seen what can be changed for the better!

What do you think is currently the weakest area of SUSU?

Communication and transparency. It’s severely struggling to retain the interest of the students everywhere at all campuses.

What are you least looking forward to during your election campaign?

Having to juggle uni work and campaigning. I really want to speak to as many people as possible but I also have my diss deadline looming, so juggling that will be challenging and scary.

Can I remain single please? If not, then I’m happily partnered and cannot not answer such question LOL.

What is your favourite Soton night out?

Love a good Ocies night. Never go wrong with Oceana!

Who is your dream dinner date?

Honestly, I feel I may get judged for this but IDGAF. NICKI MINAJ. She’s a bad ass and one beautiful lady. She would make me laugh soooooo much and would be an absolute pleasure to have dinner with. On that note, I wonder what she would eat…. Or how she would smell or look… Shit, I’m fantasising again…. Hmmmm Nicki.
