Five properties in Portswood were burgled last night.

Overnight from Wednesday 20th to Thursday 21st five burglaries took place in Portswood, all of which involved insecure properties.

Laptops, phones and other forms of technology were targeted in student houses on Upper Shaftsbury Avenue, Cambridge Road and Portswood Road. Non-dwelling burglaries included unlocked garden sheds in Ripstone Gardens and Methuen Street.

We are doing everything we can to deter burglars…high visibility patrols and talking to the students themselves.  But at the end of the day, if you leave your property insecure or all your IT equipment on display in front of windows, you can expect to lose it.The other thing students and everyone else needs to do is to register valuables with immobilise on-line.  That way, if you are the victim of theft, we can track the items.

This news comes less than a month after The Tab reported of four burglaries in one night.

Please remember to keep your house and bedrooms locked and your valuables hidden, for tips from Hampshire Constabulary and The Tab click here.
