Looking for something to do before the semester starts getting in the way of your social life? See our top picks for this weekend.

Bourbon and Blues Festival, The Rockstone

The Rockstone is hosting another booze-themed fest with 10 extra bourbons added to their already extensive list and live music over the weekend. As well as the usual selection of food, the pizza oven will be cooking Friday evening and all day Saturday.

The Rockstone

At 12pm on Saturday, the chefs will be attempting to make Britain’s biggest burger! A whopping 32lb beast, they will be selling slices of it and donating money to charity.

A stroll through Bevois Valley from The Rockstone will take you to The Hobbit, where they have a bucking bronco on Saturday night for your drunken enjoyment!

The Talking Heads

Located between Wessex Lane and Sainsbury’s, The Talking Heads is hosting a reggae session on Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. This free session is played entirely on vinyl and includes a record sale. The organisers are looking for some budding reggae DJs to get involved, so if you’re interested get in touch!

The Talking Heads

The most exciting part of the Talking Heads weekend might be the Bike Show, including a hog roast, pillion rides and burlesque dancers! Real ale prices start from £3.

Oktoberfest, Jesters

Another legendary Jesters Gold Card Challenge hits Portswood on Sunday! With live music all day, once you’ve signed up all you need to do is sign in before 1.15pm and sign out after 1.15am. 12 hours at Jesters? Easy. The gold card gets you free or reduced entry to Jesters every night of the week.

Lost Cause Bring and Buy Sale, The Joiners

Found in St Mary’s, The Joiners has been voted the country’s Best Small Live Venue by NME readers and on Sunday hosts a bring and buy sale of merchandise, vinyl, CDs and anything band based that you can think of! From 2pm to 5pm entry to the bring and buy sale costs only £1.50, £6 after 5pm for a selection of music or £7 for an all day wristband.

The Joiners

If you’re a fresher, the events included in your Master Pass for this weekend include a variety of JCR events on Saturday night and quizzes on Sunday evening.
