Southampton man Tom Hibbert from Portswood currently holds the title of England’s Strongest Man – and is now setting his sights on becoming the strongest in EUROPE.

The 27-year-old – a Southampton Uni Sports Science graduate – won the national under-90kg category in March this year. His training included lifting sand bags and flipping giant tyres, as well as working out in the gym he owns in Shirley.

He can now lift 280kg in a deadlift – the equivalent of 3 WASHING MACHINES.

Tom’s training includes flipping giant tyres and dragging heavy barrels.

His training for the European title will become even harder, having to lift concrete balls and drag heavy barrels.

He told the Daily Echo:

It’s my hobby. Training is my escapism. Even though it’s in my gym it’s my escape from the normal, working stuff. I love what I do.

The competition will take place next year.
