Former Sheffield public toilets are being turned into new cocktail bar
Here’s hoping it’ll be open until the wee hours
A new cocktail bar is set to open in the former men's toilets at Sheffield Town Hall.
The bar is being set up by the same people who bring us The Great Gatsby on Division Street, and the Picture House Social on Abbeydale Road, so it's bound to be the new trendy place to hang out and not too much of a shithole.
Named 'Public', a nod to it's past life as a toilet, it will be opening on Surrey Street in the city centre, not in the arse end of nowhere.
Whilst an official opening date is yet to be announced, it's currently planning to be opened in autumn, and it's license currently states it will stay open until 2am.
The renovators have pledged to keep the old wall tiles in place to keep the heritage of the site in tact, and the site will be bringing in money for the local council as it's part of the structure of the Town Hall.
Unfortunately, due to a shitty economic situation, many of Sheffield's public conveniences have been closed in recent years.
