Royal Holloway sinks below St Mary’s Twickenham in graduate prospect rankings

Not even your 2:1 can help you now

Look away now: Royal Holloway has been scored abysmally for graduate prospects by The Complete University Guide, placing below such esteemed academic institutions as St Mary’s Twickenham.

Yes, you read that correctly, and no we haven’t heard of them either.

While RHUL scores a mediocre 62.2 and comes 78th in the UK, St Mary’s manages a much better total of 62.9. Where did that extra 0.7 come from? Did they get extra marks because Mo Farah went there?

The Complete University Guide states the figure was created from “the number of graduates who take up employment or further study divided by the total number of graduates with a known destination, expressed as a percentage. Only employment in an area that normally recruits graduates was included. The results were then adjusted to take account of the subject mix at the university.”

So if you were hoping a 2:1 from RoHo would be enough to get you on that grad scheme, you might need to think again.

Second year student Tegan Marlow said: “It’s a bit disheartening really.”

On the bright side, we can at least cling onto the recent news we’re at one of the “most international” unis (whatever that means). Maybe we’ll find a job abroad through a friend.

If working in Europe or on the other side of the world doesn’t sound appealing, you can learn more about transferring to St Mary’s by clicking here.
