Was UCL your first choice of university?

They’re all lying

There’s no reason why UCL shouldn’t have been your first choice of university, we are pretty amazing. On the other hand, we can’t deny the fact that 67% of us were Oxbridge rejects and this was our backup option.

The Tab hit campus to ask if UCL was your first choice.

Anton, 20, Mechanical Engineering

“Yes, of course.”

Tahmeed, 19, Medicine

“Yes, it was.”

Shameena, 20, Medicine

“Yes, I love UCL…”

Rdsu, 20, Economics

“Yes, it was my first choice.”

Shannon, 22, Law

“Unfortunately it fucking was.”

Francesco, 19, Anthropology and Arabic

“Yes, kind of…yeah.”

Martin, 20, Chemical Engineering

“No, it was my fifth choice…after Cambridge and Imperial and a few others.”

Emanuele, 24,  Arts and Sciences

“Yes it was, both times round, I originally did engineering but I wasn’t destined to be an engineer because it was like watching paint dry. Then I got convinced to join BASc before it even started, I took a year out and then came back to UCL.”

Maxim, 21, Chemical Engineering

“Yes, unfortunately.”

Fred, (a young) 20, BASc

“It was…my second time round.”

Maise, 20, Arts and Sciences

“So BASc at UCL was my first choice on UCAS. But studying in the UK was a back-up, I actually wanted to study a similar course at Freiburg Universität. However, after a stressful summer and a stressful nightmare of an application process to Freiburg, I ended up here. And am so grateful for it…because UCL is great.”

So there you have it, we managed to find some loyal UCL-ers out there, although some of them weren’t that happy to be here. But if UCL wasn’t your first choice, here‘s why it should have been.
