LJMU has immediately stopped face-to-face teaching due to Covid-19

They announced it a day after UoL ended the academic year

LJMU announced yesterday it had “made the decision to stop all face-to-face teaching for the rest of this semester with immediate effect” due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, in an email sent by Vice-Chancellor Ian Campbell.

It was also announced that all libraries and LJMU buildings will remain open for the time being.

There has since been a follow-up email sent to students today by the Chair of the Incident Management Team, Mark Power, that all libraries and catering services at LJMU are operating with reduced opening times.

The email sent to all students on Sunday

He said: “Due to the unprecedented situation with coronavirus, we have stopped all face-to-face teaching for the rest of this semester.

“Our buildings remain open as we continue to operate our student services, including in our libraries which are open 08:45 – 19:00, Monday to Friday and 10:00-16:00 at the weekends.

“The libraries phone and online services remain open 24/7”.

He also went on to say: “Our catering outlets have moved to our vacation hours and will therefore close at 15:00 each day. All LJMU buildings will close each day at 19:00”.

LJMU joins the University of Liverpool after both have chosen to suspend face-to-face teaching, for the rest of the semester at LJMU and for the entire academic year at UoL.
