As we are all well aware, Smithdown Road is the epicentre of Liverpool’s student hub and it has also firmly established itself as a culinary hotspot. There is truly something for everyone, with a vast range of restaurants boasting a variety of cuisines for any occasion. Birthing some legendary Liverpool scran spots, there’s no doubt somewhere on Smithdown that will tickle your fancy, almost too many to choose from. With that being said, here are five of the top spots which every Liverpool student should try.

1. Little Furnace Wood Fired Pizza

This is the BEST spot for wood fired pizza and its not too expensive. Their garlic bread is also to die for, and if you are a cheese lover then you must get the cheesy garlic bread. Don’t miss out on the garlic dip either, such a tasty combo with the pizza. They offer take out too if you want to have a chilled pizza night in with friends.

2. Maggie Fu

Located just past Tesco, Maggie Fu offers some of the best Chinese cuisine. For those who love a Chinese takeaway, they package your food in large boxes so the portions are perfect for sharing with friends and having a night in. There is also a restaurant in Liverpool One for anybody who lives closer to town.

3. Fritto

An authentic Italian bakery that offers the yummiest Italian food and sweet treats. Everything at Fritto is made from scratch so it really is authentic and makes their food extra special. They also have a range of cheesecake flavours for just £4 which are a must try after a calzone! It is open Wednesday to Sunday, so don’t miss out.

4. Cafe Oro

The best breakfast on Smithdown Road, it must have been designed specifically for a students hangover! A fully loaded English breakfast is what every student needs on a Sunday and they even have a vegan and veggie option for this. They also have a lunch menu which is divine as they make unreal sandwiches. Cafe Oro is a must try, as just like Fritto, everything is made from scratch!

5. Kelly’s dispensary

An unreal pub grub option, they have a range of food on their menu such as burgers, salt and pepper fries and the yummiest pizzas. Plus, If you’re missing your families weekly roast then don’t worry, as Kelly’s offer a Sunday Roast for just £13, topped with Guinness gravy – very Irish! They also offer takeaway and collection so no one has to miss out.
