Why Joey Essex has called off a romance with Priya after Love Island 2026

Joey Essex has reportedly called off things with Love Island 2026 Islander Priya Jaswal. Priya and Joey had been spotted getting cosy at the NTAs, after Priya split from Aidan following the show.

The Sun had pictures of them looking very close, sat together on a sofa at the event. They appeared deeply engaged in conversation, and in one Priya could be seen showing Joey something on her phone, while he giggled at her. 

They were said to have been “inseparable” at the event, and a source added: “Joey and Priya really hit it off and got close. They’ve swapped numbers and we’ll have to see what happens. Obviously Priya is very fresh to showbiz and just out her connection with Aidan so we’ll see.”

They “chatted for hours” before leaving the event together. They headed to a fancy after party together, returning to a bar at a nearby hotel. Then, apparently, things did then progress further with them. “I’m just gonna say, watch this space,” Priya said of herself and Joey, after they were spotted together.

However, now The Sun has reported Joey has cooled things off, for a very surprising reason. A source told the publication: “Priya and Joey spent the evening laughing and joking away so many assumed it could turn into something more serious.

“But Joey is taking a break from women and s*x at the moment. In fact, he’s taken a vow of chastity. He’s got this big boxing match next month and he’s taking it very seriously. He is determined to win and has been sweating it out in the gym and is going to give it everything he has got. So Joey is on a strict s*x ban until after the fight.”

I’m sure Priya is gutted!
