He’s the man of the moment, but Charlie Hunnam also has a very successful long-term partner

Right now, the man of the moment is Charlie Hunnam, as he has returned to Monster on Netflix, this time as Andrew Borden in The Lizzie Borden Story. Outside of his life on screen, he tends to keep his private life exactly that, so you might not have known that Charlie Hunnam has a long-term partner. 

He’s been with the same person for over two decades, and they share a quiet life when he’s not playing serial killers or murder victims on Netflix. They are mostly out of the public-eye together, but Charlie Hunnam has been spotted with his partner at some red carpet events.

Charlie Hunnam has been with his partner Morgana McNelis since 2005. He has never explicitly spoken about the two of them getting married, but earlier this year he did refer to Morgana as his “wife” for the first time in an interview.

They previously kept their relationship completely secret, with Charlie only revealing he was in a relationship when they had been together for a number of years. Their first public appearance was in August 2008, at a Sons of Anarchy screening.

Now, the pair live together on a California ranch, that they bought in 2013. At the time, Charlie said living on the farm was to “get out of Hollywood completely”.

He added: “It’s in California. We’ve got 30 chickens and a couple of donkeys, a couple of ducks and we’ve got a big, organic garden. We are going to try to live a bit more sustainably.”

Morgana McNelis is a creative too, working as a jewellery designer. She is behind Maison de Morgana, a line which specialises in all kinds of jewellery items, all made from brass and white bronze. 

Maison de Morgana has had some A-list customers over the years, with its Instagram page including Zac Efron and Troian Bellisario wearing pieces. She can consider her other half one of her A-list customers, too.

“She told me she was making me a diamond encrusted ring, she’s a jewellery designer, not an actor, and I was like ‘Uh-oh. This is not going to go well for me,’” Charlie shared in a previous interview. “But I love it. It’s so discrete and beautiful.”

So, what does she think about his roles in Monster?

The big question is: What does Morgana think about her partner playing such dark roles? Well, Charlie has said she is always very supportive of his work, but while attending the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, he joked with E! that there was one request for when he was rehearsing as Ed Gein.

“I was slipping in and out of it all the time,” he said of the very memorable voice he created for Ed Gein. “And she would say, ‘Dude, you have to stop at the voice. At breakfast, it’s a little too much.’” Fair enough.
