Liverpool Guild of Student’s new deputy president shows us he’s got beauty and brains, modelling for Liverpool-based streetwear label Wasted Heroes.
Oba Akinwale, who will step up to the role of Deputy President in the autumn, has been snapped looking sultry in t-shirts taken from the label of graphic designer Russell Reid, the mastermind behind the legendary posters of Chibuku and Circus.
Oba was photographed at Pier Head in a number of Reid’s designs, which have also been worn by Carl Cox, Yousef, Sasha and Loco Dice.
Wasted Heroes is an electronic music inspired streetwear label and was born on the dance floor but Oba paired the t-shirts with a pair of simple black jeans, a Michael Kors watch and a five o’clock shadow, proving they could be taken from midnight at Kitchen Street to midday on Bold Street with just a pair of cheekbones and a slight pout.
Graphic designer Reid said about his designs: “To us, a t-shirt or sweatshirt is a walking blank canvas for us to work with. There’s no better compliment than someone liking your designs that much that they wear it across their chest for all to see.”
Chris, a third year Economics student, was impressed with Oba’s talents: “I wish I could be more like Oba. He’s an inspiration to all men”.
With all this posing, we can only hope Oba has time to fight for our rights at the Guild as well.
