Battle of BUCS: Lacrosse

UoL had an average year sport wise, but Lacrosse reckon they deserve a special mention.

We lost Christie Cup, we lost Varsity and we came 35th in BUCS 2012/2013 overall.

But UoL’s failure is nothing at all to do with our very own Lacrosse team, who managed victory after victory this season.

The men’s team went all the way with a triple win: BUCS League division two (securing them a promotion), BUCS Cup and Christie Cup.

The women’s team also won their league, giving them a tidy little promotion to first division too.

Unsurprisingly, the team were out celebrating at AU Ball, yet their numerous successes failed to get them the ‘Best Club’ award.

Mountaineering managed to scoop this award, despite Lacrosse’s undefeated track record.

Caroline Walker, president of the lacrosse club, said:

“I couldn’t have asked for a better season.  It’s been an absolute pleasure to be the president of such an amazing club and I hope our success this year can be carried on into the future.”
