LGOS SO elections SRO university of liverpool

Still don’t know who deserves your vote? With only a few days left until voting closes, we bring you the best of the SRO candidates’ policies, as outlined at Question Time.

SRO Candidates at last week’s Question Time

First up, current president Sam Butler. Butler promises to be ‘at your service’, focusing on the importance of the refurb for next year’s president. Also wants to improve the student voice, claiming students aren’t apathetic, they just need motivating.

Tom Bee, current Deputy President. Claims he’s ace at the boring stuff. Look out for the drumsticks he promised in his campaign.

Maggie Hayes, current Vice President.  Wants to overhall democratic structures of the uni along with the bursaries currently available.  Wants a Guild that campaigns.

Hasan Abbasi. Reading his speech off his phone, Hasan clearly wasn’t paying attention to the questions being asked (he needed questions repeating on two occasions). Wanting to bring students back to an “empty” Guild, Hasan also reckons he threw a house party last year that 1,000 people turned up to.  Sources have both confirmed and denied this claim.

Nodding off there Hasan?

Iustina Balan reckons “mini guilds” are the way forward.

Leigh-Angel Bevan, born Leigh-Nova Bevan. Campaigning for an “all-inclusive” Guild, regular nights at the Guild and a voluntary buddy system to integrate foreign students.

James Coe is ready to Coe Coe Coe with his “newspaper for all”. Putting education first, James also claims sports are currently too expensive and need to be widened.

Everyone’s favourite Yanling Fan promises to bring you microwaves, dating programmes and world peace.  Pretty big shout, but she reckons she can pull it off. Have you joined the Yanling Fan Club?

Victoria Lee only wants a Vice President position. She wants to introduce “cafe connects” (whatever they are) and free language classes to remove the language barrier for international students.  She also said something about “better hairdressing”…

Cait Lees. Claiming the Guild is over-priced and under-used, Cait is campaigning for a more transparent Guild. Tensions rose when she pointed out to Leigh-Angel that a buddy scheme is already in place. Awks.

Peter Murden, fan of Tom Bee’s good looks. Peter plans to remove emails and replace them with a video summary of everything.

Evelin Petkova just pointed out how awful her manifesto is. Nice girl though.

Natasha Walker focused on housing as her key policy, pointing out there is only one lawyer to help students. Brownie points for awesome #tashtag.

Andrew Wills simply wished everyone luck.
