In pictures: the return of Thor’s Tipi Bar in Lincoln

All I want for Christmas, is this little bar and all it has to offer

Halloween has come and gone, time to hang up the pumpkins and prepare for the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas. Of course, there will be some of you who read this and can’t help but protest that one week into November is far too soon to be celebrating. First of all, check yourself. Secondly, can you really be mad when all the festive-themed goods come out?

From seasonal clothing to coffees, this is the time of year made famous by the colours red, gold and green. And, even if I cannot convince you with all of this festive goodness, who can say no to a seasonal beverage – of the alcoholic kind?

Thor’s Tipi Bar is back in Lincoln’s Cornhill Quarter for another season. The unmistakable tents were constructed throughout the week, and the site opened on Friday 5th November. Funnily enough, it didn’t take much convincing to get a friend to come and try the place out.

The Drinks

The menu was designed in merry prints and showed us a range of different drinks to try. From your usual spirit and mixers to winter warmers such as Hot Apple Punch or Hot Chocolate. Which, obviously, you could alter to add an alcoholic kick to. Our first drink of choice was the Alpina Colada. This fun frozen cocktail was perfect while we were sitting around the fire pit (lowkey felt like I was living my Chalet Girl best life for a couple of minutes).

The Atmosphere

It was initially quiet when we arrived, however, it didn’t take long for the place to fill. Accommodating all ages, we found ourselves sat amongst couples with their dogs (big thank you to you for letting me stare at your adorable puppy while I waited for drinks) and girls dressed up for a big night out. There was plenty of seating available, but the most sought-after spots were definitely around the fire pit.

However, with all the people that were arriving, it soon warmed up inside, and people began peeling off layers of jackets, hats, and scarves worn to the night’s bonfire festivities. Thor’s is open from 11 am to 11 pm, and has a small food truck ran by Yuzu next to the entrance, where you can try a range of their food, including bao buns or loaded fries, making it a great place to stop during the day or for a snack later in the night.

If you want to try Thor’s Tipi Bar, you best head over soon, as it’s only here until the 2nd January. I for one shall definitely be making a return to this wonderful pop-up bar, it’s the perfect place for getting into the festive spirit, relaxing with friends or going for a few drinks with a potential winter partner (it is cuffing season, after all, folks).
