Applications for The Lincoln Tab’s Editorial Team are now OPEN

The Lincoln Tab is read by thousands of students in Lincoln and across the country per month, and we are looking for motivated students to join the editorial team for the next academic year 2021/22.

The brand new positions available are News Editor, Features Editor, and Social Media Editor. The Lincoln Tab welcomes applications from any Lincoln student.

You do not need to have written for us before or have journalistic experience, but, as these are editorial roles, some experience would help. However, even if you have never written for The Tab before, there is no better time to get involved and do something new.

If you feel like journalism isn’t typically accessible for people from your background, please do apply. You will have training from experienced editors to get you up and running.

News Editor

As News Editor, your biggest responsibility is reporting on the latest happenings and scoops from Lincoln.

You will need to have an eye for a good story, have an ear out for the latest news, controversies, and events, and have a passion to report on news before anybody else.

It is vital to keep up-to-date on Lincoln’s news, from announcements from the University to events happening in the city.

You will also support the Editor-in-Chief in editing articles and writing every week.

Social Media Editor

Your job as Social Media Editor of The Lincoln Tab will be to manage our social media channels across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

If you love scrolling all day, or have a great talent for memes, this role is for you. Your responsibilities include advertising our articles across social media, posting engaging content on our stories, sharing memes, keeping our followers engaged, and growing our audience.

You will also support the editorial team in keeping an eye out for content happening in Lincoln and looking out for the latest news and campus gossip, as well as writing pieces.

Features Editor

The role of Features Editor is for anyone who wants to take charge of The Lincoln Tab’s feature pieces!

You will work on pieces that cover opinion pieces, fun guides, current opinions, and commentary on-campus life.

From rating outfits on campus, ranking the university accommodations, or arguing which Lincoln spoons is better – as Features Editor you will have an interest in everything relatable to Lincoln students.

You will also support the Editor-in-Chief in editing articles and writing every week.
