Meet the Lincoln biomed student who is running for Miss England 2019
‘It isn’t just about having a pretty face’
Miss England, an annual round of up England's most beautiful women is taking place on 30th July to 1st August this year.
Lucy Krogdale, second year biomedical science at the University of Lincoln is one of many who are running for the prestigious title and the chance to compete for Miss World later this year.
Originally scouted when leaving the gym in Lincoln, Lucy competed in the Miss Lincoln roundups and was subsequently crowned with the Miss Lincoln 2019 title.
The student who has just finished her second year at the University of Lincoln said: "To be entered into the final is a complete shock and something I never imagined I could achieve given I come from a small town in Buckinghamshire!
"But I am looking forward to working with the community (both in Lincoln and bucks) and the challenges the final will bring."
In the run for the title, Lucy has said that the competition isn't just about having a pretty face.
Lucy struggled with her body image and had an eating disorder in her teenage years.
Speaking to the Lincoln Tab she said: "I am using my new title I aim to place an emphasis on tackling mental health within students as it is something I myself have struggled heavily with and the competition has helped me overcome."
To prove her title further, Lucy has raised over £650 for charity by rowing the length of the English channel and has created a dress made from recycled materials.
She says that she created the dress in order to highlight the changes that need to be made in order to make the planet a cleaner and more eco-friendly place.
At the end of July, Lucy will visit London to take place in the finals of Miss England 2019.
If she wins, she will then have the opportunity to compete for the Miss World title taking place in Thailand in December.
