You know you miss Leicester when…

Christmas is coming and that means only one thing…leaving Leicester for a month.

Leaving Leicester is difficult. If you’re a Fresher, you have to say bye to your new found freedom and all those friends you’ve made and go back to dealing with your parents.  Second years will be going home to the lovely prospect of warmth and food, whilst Third year students will be almost in tears at the fact they’ll be leaving in just a few short months. It doesn’t matter what year you’re in, you ARE going to miss something…

…it might be Red Leicester…

When you’re getting ready for all those fancy Christmas parties in ankle-breaker heels and a bodycon which now stretches taut over your mince pie curves, you know you’d much rather be running around Red Leicester dressed as a Chief…like this guy!

or look smurf-tastic like these guys!

Or is it living in squalor?

As you scrub away at home helping your Mum out with menial chores, you’ll long for the days you could wake at 3pm, order a Dominoes and live off cold pizza for the next few days while the washing pile festers.

mmm…cold pizza!

that’s a 45 minute job…

Nah, it’s definitely the house parties

Fairy lights, heavy duty speakers, beer pong, dirty pints, strip poker, broken furniture, shots, strangers you don’t even remember inviting, but one of the best nights of the year. No sane parents would let you do this at home, and if they do, they are idiots; remember this guy…

Procrastinating is good as well though

The freedom of time, independence and wellbeing. It’s all about the Breaking Bad marathons, Quiz Up and essaying through the night, because you are in control of what you do and when you do it.

At the end of the day, it was always going to be the housemates wasn’t it?…

It is unlikely that you will ever again live in such close proximity to houses upon houses of friends. Most people in the real world will be like this:
