56 hours, no money. Three freshers embark on Jailbreak 2013.

The Tab catches up with three escapees; Lucy Brownson, Helena Foyle and Amy Anderson.

The aim: to get as far away from uni as possible.

The catch: …without any money.

Leicester’s Escapees

Why did you choose Centrepoint as your charity?

HF: It supports young, homeless people.

LB: It’s crazy how it’s only 40p to sponsor someone’s hostel room and that can get someone off the streets for a night. So we thought it was a really good cause.

Tell us a bit about the journey.

HF: We managed to get to Dublin which was quite good considering it was St. Patrick’s Day.

LB: There was an amazing atmosphere.

We were trying to get on a train to London at first and then got told point blank by the woman at reception that we weren’t going to get on a train. We got on the bus, then a train and then hitchhiked to Holyhead which is where we got the ferry from.

HF: For St. Patrick’s Day, there were so many people from over the world, like Australians and everything.

LB: Yeah, it was really good. It’s really different from what it is at home. The whole city was just having a party.

What was the highlight?

HF: Getting to Dublin. Well, we never really had a bad point in the weekend. We were really lucky with how we managed to get to Ireland.

LB: I’d say going out in Dublin, like the atmosphere. And when we got back to Holyhead Ferry Port, we were thinking how on earth are we going to get back from Leicester from here. We talked to a woman and out of her own pocket she paid about 200 quid to get us back to Leicester.

Would you ever do it again?

HF: I’d definitely recommend it. I don’t know if we’d be as lucky the next time round.

LB: It was a lot of fun. I’d definitely recommend it and I’d definitely do it again.

Finally, how much did you raise?

HF: We raised about £360!
